Hickory-Helen Drum Sigmon, 95, of Hickory died June 12, 2017.
Mrs. Sigmon was born on May 23, 1922, in Catawba County to the late H. Lafayette and Edith Reitzel Drum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette C. Sigmon, her brother, Dale Drum, sisters, Margie Drum Gilbert and Carolyn Drum Combs, and half-brothers, Bryce Drum, Harry Drum, and Fred Drum.
She is survived by her sons, Brent Sigmon (Nancy Carow) of Oak Ridge, TN, Brian Sigmon (Suzanne) of Charlotte, and Bruce Sigmon (Norka Soto) of Atlanta;...

Hickory-Helen Drum Sigmon, 95, of Hickory died June 12, 2017.
Mrs. Sigmon was born on May 23, 1922, in Catawba County to the late H. Lafayette and Edith Reitzel Drum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette C. Sigmon, her brother, Dale Drum, sisters, Margie Drum Gilbert and Carolyn Drum Combs, and half-brothers, Bryce Drum, Harry Drum, and Fred Drum.
She is survived by her sons, Brent Sigmon (Nancy Carow) of Oak Ridge, TN, Brian Sigmon (Suzanne) of Charlotte, and Bruce Sigmon (Norka Soto) of Atlanta; daughter-in-law Catherine Sigmon of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, David Sigmon, Scott Sigmon (Laura), Zachary Sigmon ( Courtney), Elisha Sigmon Rubin (Dustin), and Jay Sigmon-Carow; great-grandchildren, Everet Sigmon, Elizabeth Sigmon, Levi Rubin, and Trevor Sigmon; siblings, Frances Drum Gilbert of Hickory and CDR R. David Drum, USN Ret. (Chris) of Santa Barbara, CA; and sisters-in-law, Hazel Drum, Mable Brown, Kathleen Sigmon, and Jean Sigmon, of Catawba County, and brother-in-law, Bill Combs of Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Sigmon was a life-long and active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church- LCMS of Hickory. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Ministry League in which she held offices locally and in the District.
Mrs. Sigmon graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College and taught school in Catawba County for 31 years, most of that at St. Stephens Elementary. Teaching was one of her great loves, exceeded only by family and church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church-LCMS at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Pastor Dave Guelzow will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Church cemetery.
